When Rev. KK Baidoo started Teens Aloud Foundation in October 2005, his transformative experience as a camper and a camp facilitator kept nudging him to bring similar experiences to the young people who had bought into the Teens Aloud vision. So, in February 2009, the first batch of about 20 young people met for a 3-day camp at a hostel in North Kaneshie, and Camp Vista was born. Since then, the quest for a dedicated camp venue similar to what Rev KK Baidoo enjoyed in Camp Alta Mons in Virginia, USA was a dream that cried for attention. So, in January 2010, when a group of 8 Canadians arrived for an exchange program with TAF that took them to an orphanage in Gyahadze near Winneba, the opportunity to use some of the unused facilities at the orphanage, at least for a long while for our camps, was exciting. The excitement was however short-lived when the orphanage expanded quickly to use up all its facilities. With the help of the director of the orphanage, who introduced Rev KK to the chief of the town, the 11.2-acre land, right behind the orphanage, was secured as the first of many campsites that would be tailor-made for young people. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on the 14th of August 2012 and the first ever camp was held in the facility on the 4th of January 2024.
